A TRUE STORY ABOUT A DAUGHTER'S LAST DANCE WITH HER FATHER

Many people have a difficult time understanding how I came to do the work that I do; facilitating healing through spiritual practice. My deeply held belief in the validity of the energetic and spiritual realms and our ability to interact with them is unshakable. My healing work is grounded in an ability to tap into the dimensions beyond the four we are generally able to perceive, and draw on those energies to effect healing.

As a young person, my initial interest in ghosts and other paranormal phenomena gave me a fairly good grounding in what had been published in this area so when my sister showed me her photograph, I had no doubt it was the real thing. Unlike many of the so called ghost pictures floating around the internet that have a strong whiff of a late night Photoshop project, this image comes with (aside from the film processing) an unbroken chain of possession.

Now before you jump to the conclusion that this photo is a fabrication, I want to make a strong statement about its authenticity. The image of the apparition appeared in one print from a completely exposed roll of color print film. No other prints were affected. This image was made from a scan of the original negative. The apparition was not an artifact of the printing practice; it is present in the exposed negative and not a product of physical damage to the emulsion.

Some background about my family is in order to help you form a context for the image. Christmas 2003 was a difficult holiday for our family. Our father had been hospitalized with a stroke on December 19 and after lingering for 4 months, passed away on April 19, 2004. Dad had a full life and he was blessed with good health until his stroke and his passing at the age of 90 while grieved, was accepted.

My sister Eileen always danced with our father at every family function. As a young man he was an accomplished dancer and Eileen loved to dance with dad. The first family function after dad's passing was my daughter's wedding in October, 2004 in Missouri. This shot was taken of her while she swayed to the music, "alone" on the dance floor.

In the process of scanning the negative, I "opened up" the shadow areas of the image, and if you look closely, you can see the pale etheric substance reaching almost to the floor below Eileen's right hand. My own interpretation of the image is that the head, shoulder, upper chest and right arm of the apparition, are off my sister's right shoulder. I really don't have an explanation for the dense swoosh of ether appearing to be in front of her.

You can make up your own mind about this image, but we are convinced that dad got one last dance in with Eileen and provided us with one more bit of validation that we do not end with death. Death is an illusion and simply a transition from our physical school back to our natural state in spirit.
